San Diego Slam Team Going to NPS in Boston

In a short 2 weeks the San Diego Slam Team will head to Boston to compete in the National Poetry Slam. The competition begins on August 9th, with 72 teams from around the world competing. The finals, composed of the top 4 teams after preliminary and semi-finals bouts, will compete on August 13th at the Berklee College of Music.

The San Diego Slam team is poised to do very well in the tournament and is one of 4 teams representing Southern California in the yearly tournament. The other SoCal teams are Da Poetry Lounge, Brass Knuckles LA, and The Damn Slam LA. Each team is made up of very accomplished spoken word artists. The San Diego Slam Team is formed by Ocean (out of SlamCharlotte Fame), Rudy Francisco (2010 IWPS Champion), Deacon Blair (2-time San Diego Grand Slam Champion, Imani Cezanne (San Diego WOWPS Rep), and CCEP J. Dew (San Diego IWPS Rep).

The San Diego Slam Team has been working hard all summer to perfect their poetry, performances, and raising money for the trip to Boston. Our fundraising goal is $6,000 and it has been very difficult in the current state of the economy to reach our goal. We are about $2,500 shy of hitting the mark. If you would like to help us with a donation please click on the donate button on this page. All donations will receive team merchandise depending on the level of the donation: $3-$9...team bracelet in blue/white or purple/gold; $10-$20...team CD; $21-$99...team CD and 2 bracelets, $100 or more...team CD, 2 bracelets, and an official NPS T-shirt [available after we return from Boston])
